very useful information, which i am going to try when the weather gets a little less frosty.

Attempts with an extractor fan ceiling heater and opening the window in an all tile bathroom have proved inefficient, so I intend to use undiluted bleach and hope it works.

I suggest that you do the humidifier idea and also when you make your bleach solution add some amonia to the water it will get rid of the smell immediately. My basement flooded I washed clothes with bleach and amonia I washed walls with it then I scrubbed the floors with it and sprayed lysol after the fact and the mold was gone completely

Another non toxic method is using 75% Alcohol, vinegear should not be used on building materials, because it will lower the pH of the material and so mould would be easier grow.

Well if the walls are sheetrock then they dont need to be “compromised” just a small bit of mold growth is enough to require the replacement of sheetrock.

Orange Water????

While you may be focusing on real problems caused by ice dams, etc, check your water pipes as well.

If your outside walls have old water pipes in them, the iron oxide on the interior of the pipes (rust = orange) might be part of the problem.

An ice dam is always a symptom – with a lot of problems to fix that you may or may not want to do – insulation, air flow, etc – but when ice builds it can also cause old pipes to flex – creating a crack in the pipes that leads to the orange seapage.

Old nails will also sweat orange – but I’d check to see if you have water pipes there first.

This film exposes the devastation to one’s health and life that living in a moldy house or apartment, or occupying a moldy school or workplace can have. The doctors are ignorant of this because the CDC is not watching out for emerging illnesses like they are supposed to. One major announcement by them to the nation’s physicians, such as was made with AIDS and SARS and solutions would start to flow forth. Now that there is a new head of most of our health agencies we can contact them and educate.
